Speaking of Literacy - Parent Session

This session was aimed at working together to help our children develop literacy skills.  Each teacher gave a presentation, similar to what is given to the children.  We also had our literacy consultant, Sue, end the session with tips for teachers and parents to help support each other.

We had amazing feedback from parents:

“Thank you for providing this opportunity to gain a glimpse of what goes on in the classroom.  The thought, passion and sensitivity about the process of learning was wonderful to see.”

“It was very informative, I learnt a few things myself! Left me feeling very pleased & it just confirmed that we made the right decision in choosing Montessori for our children.”

The food after the event was both beautiful, and delicious, thank you to Grace and Janice!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the next information session!!!

A brief history of Elonera's Parent Involvement

Parents choose our preschool and school because of the Montessori philosophy, and its safe and peaceful environment.  Our parents are generally young alternative thinkers of an international mix of origins. They have some sense of wisdom about life and think for themselves.

Our parents choose Elonera Montessori because they are motivated to give their children something special. Our school provides the opportunity for parents to involve themselves, creating a beautiful environment for the children, sharing their expertise as well as joining their children on excursions and in celebrations.

Most parents value excellent education and are willing to invest in it. In partnership we want our children to become joyful learners. We are committed to personal growth as well as spiritual development and believe that they form part of a happy and effective person.

We would like to see our children grow up free of self-doubt, stress, and senseless competition for peer approval, choosing not to focus on fears of failure. Our parents value the idea of belonging to a community of kindred spirits, who share similar values, building the school community through working together to “Help the children to help themselves”.

Our families travel as far as Campbelltown, and Kiama to be a part of the Elonera Montessori Community.
