Last month saw Sara and I head to Hyderabad India in order to complete mandatory IB Diploma leadership training, as well as attend the IB Asia Pacific network conference. This was an invaluable experience in which to immerse myself, as I solidified my understanding of all of the intricacies that are a part of the job of a Diploma Programme Coordinator – and the location wasn’t bad either! It was a dynamic learning experience in which I was able to network with other Diploma Programme Coordinator’s and subject teachers from around the world, learning from them and growing in our knowledge of the IB Organisation and its philosophy in action.
At the conference we were privileged to listen to key note addresses given by world renowned educators in the fields of science, psychology and education. In particular, Linda Lantieri spoke of the importance of mindfulness in schools as a key to student success, and lead us through some exercises intended to promote well-being and improved focus – some strategies I intend to research further in order to implement in the IB space for the benefit of our students.
So on that note – I have included some mindfulness tips you may find useful!
